I am a sixty-six-year-old lady with one daughter who is forty years old, I HAD HER AT AGE SEVENTEEN, SHE IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO ME TALKS DOWN ON ME AND WANT ME TO DO WHAT SHE SAYS EVEN TO AGREEING WITH A LIE THAT SHE HAS TOLD. I HAVE TRIED TO BE A GOOD MOTHER, THE BEST THAT I KNOW HOW TO BE, HOWEVER, HER DISRESPECT AND TALKING DOWN TO ME IS STARTING TO GET ME DOWN I FEEL THIS FUNNY FEELING IN MY GUT WHEN SHE DOES, AND SHE KNOWS IT. I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION TO LET HER GO. BUT I FEEL A LITTLE BAD ABOUT THIS, I MEAN I AM HER MOTHER, BUT I CAN NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE.

Hello there and thanks for reaching out! I’m sorry for the delayed response!

Yes, this is a serious problem among us mothers today. The gut feelings you are referring to is your system telling you this is not right and that you should not tolerate it. We were focusing on this topic a few months ago on our YouTube channel. When you have a minute, visit the MidLife Rises channel and subscribe. In the meantime, follow your instinct by standing up for your respect and don’t feel badly about exhibiting ‘tough love’. I’m finding that it is the way to go when you are in this situation. You are still named ‘mother’, and you have to stand your grounds! Good luck!
